Assistant Controller

Description:
Position Purpose:
This role is primarily responsible for assisting the Controller in the accounting and financial reporting performed by the Finance department as well as contributing to projects undertaken by the department as needed.
What you'll do:
Prepare and/or review daily, monthly, and quarterly general ledger entries related to Holding Company and Bank accounting.
Prepare quarterly allowance for loan loss calculation and related supporting narrative.
Prepare quarterly estimated tax estimates.
Assist in maintaining, enhancing, and preparing internal financial reporting for management and the Board of Directors.
Assist with the Holding Company's financial reporting responsibilities with the Securities and Exchange Commission; Prepare and/or review the financial reporting disclosures to the Bank's external agencies (SEC, Regulatory) including Form 4, FR Y-6, FR Y-10, 8-K and 10-Q/K (Schedules, Footnotes, Management Discussion and Analysis) and other statutory financial statements as well as earning releases and investor presentations.
Research and analyze new and existing accounting and reporting pronouncements.
Prepare/review US GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists to ensure compliance of external financial statements and disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting guidance.
Work on other special and ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements:

Thorough understanding of the financial and banking industry Extensive experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting and financial reporting matters with SEC reporting Candidate must possess an undergraduate degree in accounting and/or business administration.

years banking or other public company experience.
Experience with Excel, Word and web-based products and services.
Strong analytical skills and aptitude for problem-solving.
High level of accuracy Ability to work independently.
Excellent time management and organization skills.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills desired.
Though strongly desired, this position does not require professional licensing, certification, or registration.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
